Pumpkin Patch

So we tried to go to this equestrian farm to do some pony rides and get a pumpkin, but they were having a private party at the time! We did get to look at the horses a bit though and Nyla was in heaven with the horses. She wanted to hug this one! It was such a fun day any way. Mommy just about had a melt down just trying to get everyone out the door, and daddy was a bit frazzled from taking a 5 hour final that morning, but it turned out to be a great afternoon. This first farm that we tried was a dud so we went to another one. It wasn't so bad because we took back ways through the country side and the hill sides and forests looked as if they were in suspeded celebration of fall. This fall was truly beautiful and relatively dry! We enjoyed just driving through the the vivid colors of fall to the next pumpkin farm.

Me and Mr. Christopher out at the pumpkin patch!

Here's Nyla, Lizzy and Daddy with our gold treasure! I think when all was said and done, the girls ended up picking out little gourds instead of pumpkins. But that didn't stop them from having a great time decorating them anyway! We came home that night, busted out the poster paints, google eyes and halloween puffy stickers and had a great time decorating our pumpkins! Nyla did a fantastic job on her tiny gourd. Lizzy painted hers orange (?) and then stuck it in a baggy with some google eyes. It was a very creative touch, don't you think? :)

I liked this picture of Nyla, her gourd and her flower. She loves all flowers and brings them to me whenever she can. Lately its been mostly leaves though. I keep a little clear glass bottle close around the sink in the kitchen for just such occasions so we can put them in water and I can enjoy them for a little longer. It always makes her feel good that I take such good care of her flowers that she brings me. She's such a thoughtful little girl and I'm learning so much more about her every day!

Salmon Days

Here's Lizzy and I at the Salmon Hatchery for Salmon Days in Issaquah. We always love going here and seeing the fish and learning about them!

Here we are at the fish ladders were we can see the fish jump in the water. Boy, those fish start looking ugly and yucky right there at the end of their little lives! Its amazing though that they are able to return to within 10 feet of where they were born coming back all the way from the ocean! Just on their sense of smell! That's amazing.

Lizzy and Pyper are learning about fish eggs and their differnt stages.

Lizzy, Pyper and Asher learning about how the Salmon are born in the rivers, migrate to the ocean and then come back home to lay their eggs and die. Its an amazing trip for a fish, and boy are they determined! We also learned about how important the fish hatchery was at the turn of the century (1800s) when the fish were endangered. Here they can grow and be released into the wild and have a better chance of survival. Cool! In a nerdy kind of way. :) We always love going on this field trip for ABC school.

why the girls were so quiet

The other day I had a sinus infection and really needed a nap. So as soon as I got Christopher down for a nap, I decided that I would go too! The girls had started playing with water colors, markers, paper and stickers. They were pretty occupied so I snuck back to my room and laid down for about 20 min. When I came back out I was so impressed that they had just continued to play and nothing was destroyed or drawn on. SO I thought. Later that evening when I was making dinner Lizzy was saying something about her belly and then she showed me what was really keeping her busy for that whole time! Notice how Nyla has happy faces on her belly!

The other day me and the kids got out side to get some air while it wasn't raining. We played in the beautiful yellow leaves that we have been enjoying this fall and then we went to the front yard. They had a ton of fun "planting" sticks in the dirt. Even Christopher was trying to help.

"Are you planting sticks Nyla?" "Yep, we're planting sticks 'cause they need to be here". I love her logic! I love how easily my girls are amused and how a little dirt doesn't hold them back. Nyla's favorite thing to do outside right now is climb the big pine tree out front . She can get about 10 feet up the tree! I can see her out the kitchen window in our second story apartment when she climbs up the tree. She's a girl after my own heart. Both my girls remind me of the good old days out on our farm when we spent more time outside than inside.

Serving up Lizzy's Tea Party

This is Lizzy and her cohort in crime in the nursery, Lochlyn. They are the two crazy monkeys that drive us moms crazy! But would you believe it, they sat for at least 30 minutes at the tea party! They loved being able to pour their own pink milk and serve each other their little treats.

Here they are holding their tea cups and plates. We had mini cupcakes for the cake as well. They were so loved!

Here is one of the fun activities that we did! I found little clear plastic purses that we decorated with hello kitty stickers. They loved them! We also made bead bracelets to go with the necklaces and rings that they got to keep. But, the girls gave up about half way through and the moms ended up finishing them!

This is Lizzy's present from mom. She got a princess scooter and a kitty balloon. She's been eyeing this balloon for about a month and I got it for her for her special day! She's having a lot of fun riding it around the house with the balloon attatched.

Lizzy's Birthday Tea Party

Here is the table all set up for Lizzy and her guests! I was wondering how this was going to work out considering it would be 3 year olds and real china!

Lizzy is crazy about Hello Kitty right now. And the color pink. Therefore, it is a pink Hello Kitty Tea Party! Pink marshmallows, pink cookies, even pink milk!

Pink star and heart cookies that are about 1 inch across. They were interesting to make and frost! Nyla and Lizzy had sooo much fun helping me frost the extra ones!

Here are the pink marshmallows in little cupcake papers. They kind of looked like little candies this way! All the girls really liked them!
