Salmon Days

Here's Lizzy and I at the Salmon Hatchery for Salmon Days in Issaquah. We always love going here and seeing the fish and learning about them!

Here we are at the fish ladders were we can see the fish jump in the water. Boy, those fish start looking ugly and yucky right there at the end of their little lives! Its amazing though that they are able to return to within 10 feet of where they were born coming back all the way from the ocean! Just on their sense of smell! That's amazing.

Lizzy and Pyper are learning about fish eggs and their differnt stages.

Lizzy, Pyper and Asher learning about how the Salmon are born in the rivers, migrate to the ocean and then come back home to lay their eggs and die. Its an amazing trip for a fish, and boy are they determined! We also learned about how important the fish hatchery was at the turn of the century (1800s) when the fish were endangered. Here they can grow and be released into the wild and have a better chance of survival. Cool! In a nerdy kind of way. :) We always love going on this field trip for ABC school.
